Job Description POSITION TITLE: Digital Content Designer, Social
REPORTS TO: Art Director, Social and Paid Media Content
POSITION SUMMARY: American Eagle is seeking a social media-savvy Digital Content Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, updating, and releasing visual assets. Candidates should be self-motivated, have an excellent eye for design, typography, color, and composition, and possess strong storytelling skills to translate ideas into visually appealing content. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly creative, and collaborative. They should be well-versed in design, social media trends, and actively engaging with social media platforms on the regular. This role requires the ability to create storytelling moments that resonate with American Eagle's Gen-Z audience and contribute to our mission to elevate and evolve the brand.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: - CONTENT CREATION
- Design and produce high-quality visuals, including graphics, animations, and videos for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat).
- Collaborate with the art director, creative strategy, and social media manager to develop content for campaigns, promotions, seasonal launches, and daily needs.
- Ensure all content aligns with AEO's brand guidelines, follows best practices, and maintains a cohesive visual identity.
- TREND ANALYSIS
- Catalog accounts and competitors with relevant, trending content. Identify areas of innovation for our brand and share insights with the team.
- Regularly update the team on visual trends in the social landscape.
- Develop social-first concepts for our channels, including shooting content when needed, creating and editing videos in-app, and brainstorming original content, resulting in 10-20 pieces of content across platforms weekly.
- COLLABORATION
- Work closely with the social media manager and other creative counterparts to create cohesive content strategies.
- Coordinate with external photographers, videographers, and influencers when necessary.
- PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION
- Analyze the performance of social media content and adjust designs to improve engagement and reach.
- Use insights and data to inform and refine content creation strategies.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of content.
- Maintain organized files and assets for easy access and future use.
- Partner with the photo studio to request image assets and submit retouching requests.
- Handle other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in graphic design and content creation for social media, preferably within the fashion or retail industry.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience with Figma.
- A portfolio demonstrating a passion for digital design and mastery of online visual communication.
- Ability to create content that resonates with Gen Z and Millennial audiences.
- Strong understanding of various social media platform functionalities.
- Collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Passion for retail and knowledge of the AEO Inc. family of brands.
