Dell Medical School is seeking a Development Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations.
In partnership with senior leaders at the University of Texas Medical Center (UTMC) and Dell Medical School, this position will establish and advance philanthropic partnerships with external organizations that align with UTMC's mission, vision, and priorities. He or she will identify, qualify, solicit and steward private foundations, family foundations, and corporate partners for funding to support UTMC's priorities: construction of purpose-built facilities of the future and bringing truly integrated, comprehensive care to Austin; recruiting world-class physicians and advanced providers to deliver care, conduct research and educate learners; and developing the digital infrastructure required to power a future-focused, fully integrated health system. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Corporate & Foundations Relations.
Fundraising and relationship management - Responsible for a minimum threshold of $2 million annually from foundations and corporations, with a minimum of 30% of annual funding to derive from new sources yearly. Within 12-18 months of beginning work with portfolio, he/she is expected to consistently produce $2M+ per year. Fundraising and relationship management responsibilities include:
In alignment with the strategic priorities and goals of UTMC, work closely with UTMC fundraising leaders and corporate and foundation representatives to coordinate corporate and foundation engagement opportunities, to include cultivation and solicitation conversations, concept submissions, high-quality proposal development, deadline management, updates, and communication plans.
Partner with designated UTMC administrators and physicians to advance relationships with donors and prospects.
Ensure the timely development, submission, and management of solicitations for UTMC priorities.
Strategy development and implementation - Collaborate with internal partners, including other gift officers and teams within UTMC and Texas Development, to develop strategy and advance philanthropic conversations with corporate and foundation prospects and donors.
Stewardship - In collaboration with the Development External Relations team, advance best practice stewardship for institutional donors who invest in UTMC and Dell Medical School each year. Related responsibilities include providing personalized outreach and invitations to relevant events and experiences, coordinating recognition efforts with the External Relations team, and ensuring timely and accurate reports and stewardship touches. Data and donor records management - Adhere to internal donor management policies and utilize tools (VIP) for donor and volunteer management, data tracking and historical analysis of institutional donor relationships.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.
Experience in health professions/fundraising and/or health care and medical education sector.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop compelling proposals and make in-person presentations for philanthropic support with a focus on health care, science, and medicine.
Experience in advancing both independent and team-based strategies to identify, qualify, engage, and solicit private foundations and corporate partners.
Success in creating and executing strategic development plans for soliciting, securing, and stewarding gifts from external partners.
Experience in establishing a pipeline of supporters and managing a portfolio of at least 50-75 donors. Demonstrated success in portfolio/moves management, prospect qualification, analytics, and research.
Ability to advance fundraising projects successfully and with excellence in a deadline and metric driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details of several concurrent projects.
Experience using prospecting and reporting tools and CRM databases. Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience in six-figure-plus corporate and/or foundation solicitations.
Entrepreneurial, proven self-starter with experience and comfort in building a fundraising portfolio from the ground up and capable of making sound, ethical, independent judgements.
Demonstrated success working on teams to develop high-level proposals with funding opportunities across disciplines and across colleges, schools, and units.
Personal and professional confidence, accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others.
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of direct fundraising and fundraising management experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Healthcare fundraising experience required.
Master's degree and seven to ten years of high-level fundraising experience on both the national stage and Texas stage. Three to five years of experience with fundraising from organizations and involving corporate partnerships. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. CFRE Certification.
$93,200+ depending on qualifications
