Job Description
Overview of Position:
Responsible for helping our dental clinic serve our patients more efficiently and more compassionately. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing and highly organized. He or she will take over all management duties for front office staff, including reception and dental assisting professionals. A Dental Office Manager needs to have excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s preferred. 5+ years’ dental management experience required.
Knowledge/Skills:
Current license as a Certified Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Hygienist preferred. Excellent customer service and leadership skills. Working knowledge of dental billing and insurance protocols. Some accounting experience preferred. Ability to multi-task efficiently and excellent computer skills.
Essential Job Functions:
• Daily operations, policy and procedures, implementation, and staff management related to all dental offices/facilities.
• Create, establish and manage internal office protocols and procedures to ensure office efficiency.
• Hire, train, and manage all staff to include front office (Patient Support Representatives), treatment plan coordinators, dental assistants, and hygiene personnel.
• Collaborate with the dentist(s) to provide feedback in order to improve operational and financial practices while ensuring an outstanding patient experience.
• Maintain the dental clinic’s budget, general ledger, and accounting systems.
• Responsible for appropriate supply and equipment purchases. (or delegate to appropriate personnel)
• Oversee the processing of insurance and secondary insurance claims.
• Actively participates in dental practice activities and proactively seeks improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirement: Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
