The Ideal Candidate The Data Science Intern possesses an "analyst first" mindset that puts business impact at the center. They will have diverse industry experience, a curious eye for data, and an ability to pull data from various sources to find opportunities for Marketing and Operational efficiencies. This role will work closely with the Data team and executives, as well as on-the-ground employees to drive action from models. A successful individual can work with complex data but present it in the simplest manner possible. They know the impact of a data science model is iterative, and they bring a never-ending optimism along with a sense of urgency to drive the next level of innovation in our brand and retail strategies.
How You Will Make an Impact - Develop and implement advanced analytics including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithm & recommendation to solve business problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs, formulate, and complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables, and presentations.
- Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
- Communicate with patience and passion to drive incremental actions and outcomes.
Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have - Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program (Computer Science, Data Science/Engineering, Analytics focus preferred).
- Experience with advanced SQL and visualization tools.
- Solid knowledge of predictive analytics techniques and statistical diagnostics of models.
- Ability to manipulate large structured and unstructured data sets, identify patterns in raw data, and develop models to predict the likelihood of a future outcome and/or to optimize business solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to stay composed and professional when assisting high-profile customers, including members of the management committee.
- Ability to evaluate data, facts, and customer input to make thoughtful, objective decisions.
- A good listener with a strong desire to help others leverage computer tools. Listens, takes notes, and captures task requests and directions.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Able to prioritize and provide timely resolution to issues and requests. Efficient, and detail oriented.
- Self-motivated, takes prompt action to accomplish objectives and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
