The Court Certified Rare Language Interpreter will provide interpretation within the State of Arizona to agencies in the State of Arizona to reach individuals with a language barrier to assist in court hearings, pretrials, probation hearings, sentencing, jail visits, and forensic interviews. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately interpreting spoken work situations pre-trials, probation hearings, sentencing, jail visits, and forensic interviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA Degree/MISS, online certification (ALTA, National Center for Interpretation AZ)/ "Linguist title; Linguist Analyst, Language Control Manager"
  • 5+, Language Liaison; Court and Legal services
  • Certs: Court Certified, Court Professional Certificate Program (CPC, Federal Court Interpreting Exam (FCICE), Legal training.
  • Credentialed by the Arizona Judicial Branch Court Interpreter Credentialing Program (ACICP)
    • Tier 1, 2 through 4, or Tier A
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:

  • The ability to facilitate communication with discretion and impartiality.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication
  • A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics
  • Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness
  • The ability to track and remember information and concepts while simultaneously interpreting them.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for extended interpretation sessions
  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to proficiently conduct either mode of interpretation: Consecutive, Simultaneous
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Reports to: Deputy Program Manager

Working Conditions:

  • Professional office environment.
  • On-call as needed
  • Translator will be notified as soon as possible when translation is needed.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

USD $50.00 - USD $60.00 /Hr.
