Scope of the Position

The position will serve as both a travel coordinator and a corporate MRO commodity buyer. This position is in office, and can be seated at our Warren, Troy, or Allen Park location.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for management of the on line travel booking tool through SAP Concur. GDS/Sabre skills preferred.
• Responsibility for all aspects of corporate travel that are not booked in SAP Concur, including booking airfare, hotels and transportation.
• Negotiation of contracts with travel service providers such as hotels, airlines and car rental agencies.
• Commodity buying responsibility/contract negotiation for MRO (maintenance, repair and operating) related items as assigned by the Director of MRO Procurement.
• Development of short and long term cost reduction goals in areas of commodity responsibility.
• Serve as a vital interface to plant MRO buyers for purchasing and supplier support.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
• Post-Secondary degree in Business or Purchasing is preferred
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Automotive Industry
• Travel up to 25% per year within the US or Canada, mostly day trips but some overnight travel may be required.
• Previous experience with online travel booking tools preferred
• Demonstrated history of being punctual, reliable, responsible and dependable in fulfilling obligations
• Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Able to work independently, multi-task and prioritize
• Commitment to privacy, confidentiality and discretion
