Salary: $19-$22/hour, depending upon experience

This is a part-time position; 25 hours per week.

SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible forfostering strong relationships with community stakeholders and volunteers to support the Park Districts mission. This includes developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and engage volunteers, as well ascultivating and maintaining relationships with community partners and organizations. The coordinator will also oversee the development and execution of outreach programsand events to increase community involvement and awareness of the Park Districts initiatives.

  • Create and foster advantageous friendships and partnerships within the community.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with all departments of CWPD.
  • Innovatively engage the community.
  • Undertake special projects that serve CWPD mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive volunteer program that effectively recruits, trains, and retains a diverse group of volunteers to support the Park District's various programs and events.
  • Orient volunteers, including communication and understanding of the agency's mission and vision, and the collective overview of the impact volunteers make.
  • Work with assigned staff to ensure effective supervision and placement for new and current volunteers.
  • Develop creative ways to engage and recognize volunteers on an on-going basis through activities, events and other methods.
  • Maintain a computer database for record keeping and volunteer skills information.
  • Documents volunteer participation through photos for use in recruitment presentations, volunteer newsletters, marketing initiatives and other efforts

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, including local businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, and civic groups to foster collaboration and support for the Park District's mission.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Park District and the community, effectively communicating the organization's mission, programs, and impact to various stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other communication channels.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community outreach programs and events that engage residents, promote the Park District's offerings, and create a sense of community around the organization's initiatives.

General and Administrative:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives, volunteer programs, and partnerships, making data-driven recommendations for improvement and growth.
  • Seek out and develop strategic partnerships with local organizations to expand the Park District's reach, resources, and impact within the community.
  • Order, and keep inventory of, promotional items and giveaways.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and participants.
  • Other duties may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor or Executive Director.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Communicate and enforce park rules and regulations to park users.
  • Continue education by attending workshops, seminars, etc. when offered.
  • Consistently apply branding principles.
  • Function as a part of a productive and supportive team.
  • Understand and apply mission, vision, values and strategic goals of CWPD.

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with Board members, staff, volunteers, the community, and donors.
  • Comfort with the ability to respond adeptly to rapidly changing priorities, and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Detail oriented and organized, with the strong ability to successfully multi-task as necessary or requested.
  • Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines with the ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical examination and background check.
  • Be insurable by park district insurance to operate vehicles, if applicable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of personalities with both spoken with written word.
  • Prepare periodic reports, maintain files and records using standard office software.
  • Maintain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team.
