YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION

The Chief Community Development Officer of JEWEL Human Services and Eastern Star Church affiliates effectively and efficiently leads teams, manages and implements growth and expansion, ensuring stability over long-term change and development with integrity and proper stewardship. The Chief Community Development Officer will oversee all community development programing including but not limited to; the implementation activities of The ROCK Initiative, the CARE Center and the ROCK Community Center for Youth & Children, in addition to any and all future endeavors JHS may acquire. For this position, the candidate must have the ability to serve as the public spokesperson when appropriate, work professionally & collaboratively with the supervisor, board of directors, ESC congregation & leadership, civic leaders, political officials, and community-based organizations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Key management and leadership of JEWEL Human Services 501c(3) nonprofit organization and its operations.
  • Demonstrates trust and integrity with supervisor and board of directors
  • Strategy, budget oversight, and effective, efficient direct managerial supervision of Care Center, ROCK Community Center for Youth and Children, ROCK Initiative programs, and all future endeavors JHS or affiliates may acquire.
  • Formulates, implements and manages short and long-term goals concerning fundraising efforts for JEWEL Human Services 501c(3) and affiliates
  • Develops and implements actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding those goals through grants, sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising events.
  • Raises awareness of the JEWEL Human Services organization, its affiliates and its primary goals through outreach efforts, regular events in the community, publications, and media relations.
  • Discovers revenue streams for expansion of fundraising efforts.
  • Tracks revenue and fundraising trends, then uses the information to predict future opportunities for expansion efforts and avoid any downtrends in individual, corporate or foundation gifts.
  • Plans and oversees fundraising events to ensure all donor needs are met and fundraising goals are achieved.
  • Publishes regular updates on major events and success of JEWEL Human Services and affiliates relevant to community development
  • Publishes annual report on JEWEL Human Services.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with partner organizations.
  • Speaks and presents information publicly at events and professional engagements of Fortune 1000 executives.
  • Inspires trust and camaraderie with employees and partnerships.
  • Assists in the development of strategies, social media campaigning, and public relations efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Community and Economic Development, or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in the above related field(s) is preferred.
  • At least ten years' experience in community development.
  • At least seven years' experience leading people in a supervisory role.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • The Chief Community Development Officer must be willing to sign and comply with the Discipleship Policy which includes becoming a member of Eastern Star Church within 90 days of hire. As faithful stewards, Eastern Star Church leaders (CCDO position included) who are required to sign the Discipleship Policy Agreement and as leaders our goal and obedience to God is tithing (10%) minimum to Eastern Star Church as well as, regular attendance in worship and discipleship activities as leaders.
  • Demonstrated history in leadership, project management, public relations, community outreach and engagement, community development, stakeholder facilitation, AND team management.
  • A mature walk with Christ, evidence by a strong and well-articulated testimony, personal spiritual discipline, consistency in public and private, a commitment to moral purity, healthy relationships with others, and healthy relationships with spouse and family (if married).
  • Ability to think clearly, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusion or approaches to problems; organize, plan and prioritize work, and manage time while orienting on details with an innate ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment while being flexible.
  • Knowledgeable of program management principles involved in strategic planning and coordination of people and resources and the ability to establish long-range objectives and specific strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Ability to write routine reports, grants and correspondence; speak effectively before a small or large group, read and interpret information to executive and senior leadership, the board, congregation, volunteers and the community.
  • Possess strong business knowledge and ability to think in a variety of business environments.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of potential donors, stakeholders, and supporters.
  • Must exercise exceptional prioritization, delegation, and master project management skills.
