Here’s what you need to know: 

We’re looking for a behavior interventionist for the current school year! Our elementary school is seeking awe-inspiring behavior interventionists to guide our students as they climb the mountain to college and beyond. Our behavior interventionists are dynamic leaders both in and outside of their classroom. They love students, working with families and the community they serve. They believe in the power of equity and restorative approaches.

Here’s what you’ll be doing: 

We have behavior interventionists that work directly with the Student Experience Team (Student Culture & Mental Health). The responsibilities are listed below.

Supporting Mental Health & MTSS Teams

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, mental health professionals and other members of the MTSS team to provide assistance with individualized programmed materials - specifically with students who need additional behavior support. (Tier 2 and 3 students)

  • Support the implementation of specialized & individualized behavioral interventions for students with most challenging behaviors. Students in the general education program, MTSS and ESE programs 

  • Maintain appropriate records and daily/weekly tracking sheets. 

  • Respond to, de-escalate, and intervene in student conflicts and altercations for students as needed 

  • Be a good TEAMmate – work closely with other school staff to reinforce expectations for all students

Supporting School Culture Team

  • Assist the Assistant Principal of Culture/Dean of Students in the organization and implementation of school-wide initiative

  • Support classroom teachers & school-based staff in implementing individualized behavioral interventions and strategies with the intent of eventually scaffolding support away from the student to promote independence throughout the school day.

  • Provide orientation for new students and make them familiar with behavioral norms

  • Respond to, de-escalate and intervene in student conflicts as needed 

  • Research, recommend, develop, and implement new initiatives that strengthen student behavioral success

  • Encourage socially appropriate behavior to garner recognition of embody school values as needed to participate in PBIS programs and other social activities 

  • Supervise student consequences and support student development in behavior support spaces including (ISS room, Culture Club room and community removal spaces)

Qualifications

Must Haves 

  • A minimum of 48 semester hours from an accredited institution. 

  • Experience working with kids who need extensive/individualized behavior support.

  • Hold high expectations for each student. 

  • Exhibit positive rapport with students. 

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to intervene in physical altercations.

  • The ability to work as an effective member of a team to address the needs of children.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with scholars, staff and parents.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with scholars, staff, and parents.
