Job Title: Aspen Public Arts Administrator
Department: Red Brick Center for the Arts
Classification: Exempt
Hiring Range: $88,777/annual - $99,889/annual
Salary Range: $88,777/annual - $133,185/annual
Position Summary: As a member of the highly collaborative, dynamic, and active Red Brick Center Arts department, this position will be a participating member of the department's overall mission, programming, and work. In addition, this position will be responsible for the management of the Aspen Public Art program including project development and implementation, budget, related programming and communication needs, and establishing vital community and organizational partnerships consistent with the organization's values and mission statement. This position involves regular engagement with diverse groups, including participants from the Red Brick Center for the Arts, city staff, organizational partners, artists, vendors, and community members. An enthusiasm for collaboration, fostering community engagement in the arts, and possessing strong organizational and critical thinking skills are essential.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Red Brick Center for the Arts.
Essential Job Functions:
Project Management
•Plan, administer, coordinate, and implement City of Aspen public art projects.
•Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to create any necessary documents such as the project strategic work plan, project brief, call to artists, City Council Memorandums, and City Council presentations.
•Manage and administer any required selection process such as a call to artists and selection committees.
•Solicit, negotiate, administer, and manage all vendors and vendor contracts.
•Coordinate with other City departments to determine the feasibility and approvals of projects.
•Ensure and administer any necessary permits or licenses.
•Seek opportunities to incorporate public art in future City capital projects.
Community Relations
•Support the Executive Director as a staff liaison to the Public Art advisory committee and selection committees.
•Administer public art program meetings as needed including creating agendas, scheduling, and communication.
•Serve as an expert resource and point of contact for public art for the City of Aspen.
•
•Seek, develop, and foster collaborative relationships and partnerships within the organization and community to realize public art projects and programming.
•Develop and foster collaborative relationships and partnerships within the arts community, both locally and state-wide.
Community Programming
•Oversees the development, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality programming to support community involvement, education, and awareness of the public art program.
Marketing and Communications
•Develop and coordinate marketing and communication needs for public art projects and programming.
•Manage and update AspenPublicArt.com and any social media outlets.
•Advocate for the role and importance of public art in community building.
Red Brick Center for the Arts
•Participate as a member of the Red Brick Center for the Arts team such as in the development and execution of the department's Compass Plan, and other departmental initiatives, programming, and duties.
•Support the programming and community events at the Red Brick Center for the Arts.
Budget Management
•Under the direction of the Red Brick Center for the Arts Executive Director, prepare and monitor the annual program budget.
•Evaluate the annual budget and identify capital, maintenance, and operational needs and financial resources to provide for a long-term operating environment and program development.
•Assists in the presentation of the program budget to City Council.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in the arts, arts administration, business, or public policy administration, or a related field.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in managing community arts programs, public or private art programs, municipal, or state arts-related programs, including all aspects of program planning, execution, and evaluation; working with committees; developing partnerships and collaborations. Two years of experience with budget management and supervision.
Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in the following areas: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Email, and a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web based platforms.
Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.
Preferred Candidate
Master's Degree in Arts Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
Position Type and Work Hours
•Regular full time, hours may vary with workload.
•Evenings/Weekends may be required depending on department needs and special projects.
Work Environment
•Indoors: Office environment.
•Outdoors/Off-Site: Performs site visits and project management of public art projects at a variety of outdoor locations. Additionally, perform meetings, trainings, and conferences in a variety of city facilities and areas.
