Supervises: Primary Purpose: Qualifications: Education/Certification: - Associate's Degree, 48 Semester hours, or Academic Assessment.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited HS or GED Program
Special Knowledge Skills: Experience: Major Responsibilities and Duties: - Assist the physical education teacher in preparing material for instruction, maintain bulletin
- board displays, and operate audiovisual equipment.
- Provide clerical assistance, duplicate materials, maintain student records, and perform some of
- the duties of an educational materials assistant.
- Work as an instructional assistant, demonstrate skills and instruct students while under the
- supervision of the certified physical education teacher during all physical education classes.
- Work in the after school program Monday through Thursday and gymnastic meets during the
- boy/girl gymnastics season.
- Assist the extramural coach when needed during after school contests in supervising student
- athletes, keeping the clock and scorebook or officiating.
- Learn to judge gymnastics and judge gymnastic meets sponsored by ECISD.
- Supervise students before school and during lunch period.
- Assist in utilizing equipment and facilities in the most effective manner to support the planned
- physical education, after school and recreation programs.
- Mark playing field and set up the gymnasium for various activities.
- Attend coaches meetings, clinics, and in-service workshops.
- Work with the principal, supervisory staff and physical education teacher in identifying and
- solving problems related to his/her students.
- Interact with students to promote a positive school image to enhance the learning process.
- Promote positive community relations through effective communication.
- Demonstrate professional attitude in performing designated responsibilities.
- Demonstrate proficiency and creativity in assisting the physical education teacher maintain a
- well-disciplined, relaxed class environment.
- Working knowledge of first aide.
- Assist in maintenance and repair of equipment; record scores on physical fitness test forms and
- assist in supervising students during the test.
- Enforce safety rules.
- Assist at play days, exhibitions, sports days and athletic contests.
- Demonstrate proficiency in carrying out instructional decisions made by the physical education
- Effectively perform other duties and functions assigned by the Principal Director of Selected
- Sports/Physical Education, and the Physical Education Teacher.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Principal may assign.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
