Required Certification/Training: All endorsements except for 173, 740 and 742 will require either the NOCTI test code 5906: Computer Programming certification or the equivalent of twelve semester hours of computer course work including at least six hours of programming language. A+, CISCO, CIW or Network+ are not required, but would be beneficial.
Qualifying Experience Required:
Option 1, 5 years of relevant work experience, completed within the last 10 years.
Option 2, Bachelor's degree in endorsement area
Job Description and Expectations
Robertson County is looking for motivated self-starting certified teachers excited about conducting a successful computer coding program. This program includes teaching all courses in the Coding program of study. State standards for each course will be the minimum expectation. Topics include the development of computers and logical devices, and overview of programming languages. Instruction on use of programming tools and applications, planning and development using flowcharts, implementing strategies that work within the constraints of operating systems, quality assurance and bug tracking and audit trails, and security concerns. A focus will be placed on the career opportunities in the industry and students will be given the opportunity to explore coding careers. Knowledge of computer equipment, operation and set-up is essential. Experience must meet the minimum qualifications required for licensure.
Basic Expectations
Conduct classes in Coding program of study based upon Tennessee State Standards.
Knowledge of operation and set-up of computer equipment.
Guide students in project-oriented instruction.
Advise the SkillsUSA or TSA chapter and provide students opportunities for competition.
Complete all school level reports in a timely manner.
Complete all CTE documentation (SSQI portfolio, follow-up study, needs assessments, etc.)
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
